Master of Science in Health and Medical Data Analytics (MSc HMDA)

This two-year degree programme offered by four top European universities prepares students to succeed in an emerging field at the intersection of health informatics, data science and digitalisation.

You will be equipped with knowledge of entrepreneurship in this highly selective programme, which  gives you innovation and business skills alongside your training in medical data analytics, helping you become a leader in healthcare innovation.

Curriculum details

The two-year programme can be taken in an online or blended format and is offered by four European universities, each with its own area of specialisation: 

  • Universidad Politécnica de Madrid: Analysis of clinical data
  • Université Grenoble Alpes: Clinical analysis for precision medicine
  • Friedrich Alexander Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg: Medical signal processing
  • Técnico Superior de Lisboa: Bioinformatics and clinical data processing

You will achieve competencies in data science, in areas such as; acquisition, storing, pre-processing and modelling. The programme also includes modules in innovation and entrepreneurship tailored to healthcare, allowing you to identify opportunities and execute a project from the business perspective. 

You will be required to undertake more than one educational programme and study at more than one university.

Who should apply

You must be admitted and enrolled in one of the partner universities. You will then be asked to pass a second admission, which will be judged according to the following weighted criteria:


  • 20% Suitability of acquired Bachelor’s degree
  • 30% Academic achievements – quality and recognition of home university
  • 25% Professional, extra-curricular and entrepreneurial experience
  • 25% General motivation and innovation potential (soft skills)
