If your healthcare start-up is seeking investment, you may need to give a detailed explanation of your financial situation. This programme offers intensive training so that you’re equipped with the financial literacy you need.

In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic it is more important than ever that start-ups understand and can discuss finances in detail. This programme is designed to help you prepare for negotiations so you can achieve your next funding milestone.

How it works

This three-month programme includes three online group training sessions on highly requested start-up topics: valuation, term sheets, and stacking up figures in business plans.
These hands-on sessions, held by business school professors connected to EIT Health, will use real-world case studies provided by participating start-ups, anonymized and adapted for teaching purposes. You will also get one-on-one mentoring from hand-picked experts and an inside look at our Access to Finance programmes. You will finish the programme with a mock investor meeting and pitch.

  • Tomasz Pilewicz

    Trainer

    As Assistant Professor at Warsaw School of Economics for entrepreneurial finance, Philips Ventures ambassador and Business Marketing Manager responsible for new healthcare solutions launches at Philips, Tomasz Pilewicz will share his knowledge and experience and will deliver online training on the most commonly used valuation methods for healthcare start-ups under the Finance Booster mini programme organized by EIT Health on October 15th.

  • Helena Torras

    Trainer

    Helena Torras, Founder and Managing Partner at PaoCapital. Promotes the tech startup mindset to society. Helena is a seasoned CEO and investor, connecting the dots between the ecosystem, startup-corporate-investor. She belongs to the Governing Board of BarcelonaTechCity, to the Advertising Association of Catalonia, to the Ambassadors Council of The Collider (TechTransf initiative from the Mobile World Capital) and she serves as an independent board director on several Boards. Among others recognitions, she has been considered one of the 30 people to follow on Twitter on the tech ecosystem, Top100 women leaders in Spain, one of the 100 leaders of digitalization in Spain, and EUTOP50 investor.

  • Gonçalo Andrade

    Trainer

    Gonçalo is a seasoned venture builder, with a solid background in the medical device and drug product development, with over 20 years of experience in the space. Having founded a VC exclusively dedicated to investing in EU based seed and early stage companies in the Life Sciences space, he is very familiar with the challenges early stage companies face and excels at navigating these initial stages. He is presently the CBO at Nanoform (Finland) and has been instrumental in taking the company to IPO and growing the company from 20 to >105 staff, making it one of the most exciting companies in the Nordics to work with.

  • Chris Massner

    Keynote speaker

    Christoph Massner, PhD is a member of the investment team at the Earlybird Venture Capital Health Fund, which he joined in 2018. He works on deal sourcing, due diligence, and deal closing in the sectors of digital health, medical devices, diagnostics, R&D platform technologies, and biopharma. Currently, he serves as a board observer of digital health company wellabe and the medical device company Alesi Surgical. Further, he is active on the boards of the digital diagnostic company Noscendo and the medical device company Perfuze. Before joining Earlybird, Christoph conducted research in different laboratories in Germany and Australia for +7 years. Christoph holds a PhD in Synthetic Biology from the Technical University of Munich.

The cost of the programme is €1900. Three start-ups will be selected to receive discount of up to €700, based on high potential to upscale and need for assistance in access to finance.

This programme is for you if your healthcare start-up:

  • Is incorporated in the EU and has achieved at least seed funding
  • Is seeking seeking gearing up to raise Series A/B funding level
  • Is based in any Horizon Europe country
