Cook2Health’s pilot study presents at the ESPEN Congress

15th August 2019

Participating at this Congress triggered many exchanges within the scientific community

The Cook2Health pilot study aims to assess the feasibility of a larger study on the impact of connected cooking devices on dietary habits and health. The project team was very eager to present at the ESPEN Congress on Clinical & Metabolism, in Madrid, organised by the European Society for Clinical Nutrition on Metabolism. The Congress brings together a large number of experts in nutrition: physicians, dietitians, pharmacists, nutritionists, scientists and nurses.

The preliminary results demonstrated the feasibility of a comprehensive multiscale assessment to measure the impact of connected cooking devices on dietary habits and health. The volunteers were followed at home, in order to be closer to reality and adap to their constraints.

Dietary coaching and the connected cooking approach is currently being assessed for impact on diet, physical activity, health and wellbeing. Preliminary results and hypotheses will be confirmed in a larger population by the ongoing randomised multicentre-controlled trial.

The end of the one-year follow-up of 160 volunteers is scheduled for October 2018.

Marie-France VaIlant, Cook2Health’s project manager, was able to discuss the results with eminent nutrition researchers from all over Europe. The scientists were interested in the originality of this controlled trial at home. They are looking forward to the results of this large study of 160 volunteers.

This innovation project is led by Seb, in partnership with the University of Barcelona, Université Grenoble-Alpes and Aberystwyth University
