La Ville de Nice et l’ensemble de l’équipe du Challenge for a Nice Life a organisé le 28 janvier 2020 la restitution des travaux du Challenge, après 12 mois de collaboration inédite entre parrains et lauréats. EIT Health et Nice au cœur de l’Europe de la Santé

Challenge for a Nice Life, concours visant à favoriser l’émergence de solutions innovantes en santé en facilitant la rencontre entre financeurs et porteurs de projets, a été lancé à Nice, il y a juste un an avec 6 défis à relever.  EIT Health France, fier de compter Nice comme ville partenaire, a soutenu ce Challenge. Nice est une ville formidablement dynamique et engagée dans la santé et le vieillissement actif de ses concitoyens. C’est aussi un territoire reconnu de recherche, d’innovation et d’expérimentation.  EIT Health France en lien avec son pilier Accélérateur s’est donc engagé en proposant le défi: « Détection de la fragilité et prévention des chutes »

Le défi : « Détection de la fragilité et prévention des chutes »

Les citoyens européens et les patients sont au centre de ce que fait EIT Health. Le bien vieillir est un des enjeux majeurs pour les européens. Première cause de décès accidentel chez les plus de 65 ans, la chute impacte souvent la condition physique mais également la condition psychologique. Perte de confiance, peur de tomber à nouveau, repli sur soi, les conséquences d’une chute sont multiples, souvent graves et liées à l’importance de la blessure et à l’état de santé de la personne. Il est donc primordial de pouvoir détecter la fragilité et de prévenir les chutes pour le maintien de l’autonomie des personnes âgées.

La solution du  lauréat – Frédéric Chorin – CHU de Nice

EIT Health France a participé au jury, sélectionné et soutenu le dossier porté par Frédéric Chorin, Responsable scientifique plateforme d’évaluation des capacités physiques au CHU Nice. L’équipe de La plateforme fragilité du CHU de Nice développe un « test fragilité » simple et efficace, destiné à s’affranchir des équipements médicaux actuels, reconnus mais coûteux, pour estimer le risque de chute chez les personnes fragilisées et optimiser sa prise en charge. Pour faire face au besoin démographique, ces tests ont vocation à être transposés vers une application numérique et ainsi toucher le plus grand nombre de séniors  Le tout, développé en étroite collaboration avec l’ensemble de la communauté médicale. Le 28 janvier 2020 a eu lieu l’ultime étape du Challenge for a Nice Life : l’événement de restitution. Le lauréat a ainsi exposé les perspectives de développement de sa solution innovante et a répondu aux questions du public sur les bénéfices attendus pour les citoyens. EIT health France est fier d’avoir fait une partie du chemin avec Frédéric et son équipe et impatient d’assister au déploiement actuel et futur de la solution.

Challenge for a Nice Life: a “Fragility detection and fall prevention” challenge and 12 months of monitoring

The City of Nice and the Challenge for a Nice Life team organised on the 28^th of January 2020 the restitution of the Challenge’s work, after 12 months of unprecedented collaboration between sponsors and winners. EIT Health France was at the side of Frédéric Chorin, Scientific Manager of the platform for the evaluation of physical capacities at the Nice University Hospital, winner of the challenge carried by EIT Health “Detection of frailty and prevention of falls”.

EIT Health and Nice at the heart of Health Europe

Challenge for a Nice Life, a competition aimed at encouraging the emergence of innovative health solutions by facilitating meetings between funders and project leaders, was launched in Nice just one year ago with 6 challenges to be met.  EIT Health France, proud to count Nice as a partner city, supported this Challenge. Nice is a tremendously dynamic city committed to the health and active ageing of its citizens. It is also a recognised area for research, innovation and experimentation.  EIT Health France, in connection with its Accelerator pillar, has therefore committed itself by proposing the challenge: “Detecting frailty and preventing falls”.

The challenge: “Detecting frailty and preventing falls”.

European citizens and patients are at the center of what EIT Health does. Ageing well is one of the major challenges for Europeans. As the leading cause of accidental death in the over 65s, falls often affect not only physical but also psychological conditions. Loss of confidence, fear of falling again, withdrawal, the consequences of a fall are multiple, often serious and linked to the importance of the injury and the state of health of the person. It is therefore essential to be able to detect frailty and prevent falls in order to maintain the autonomy of older people.

The winner’s solution – Frédéric Chorin – CHU de Nice

EIT Health France participated in the jury, selected and supported the dossier submitted by Frédéric Chorin, Scientific Manager of the physical capacity evaluation platform at the Nice University Hospital. The team of the Fragility Platform of the Nice University Hospital develops a simple and effective “fragility test”, designed to overcome the current medical equipment, recognized but expensive, to estimate the risk of falling in frail people and optimise its management. To meet demographic needs, these tests are intended to be transposed to a digital application and thus reach the greatest number of seniors. All this has been developed in close collaboration with the entire medical community. On January the 28th, 2020, the final stage of the Challenge for a Nice Life took place: the restitution event. The winner thus presented the development prospects of his innovative solution and answered questions from the public on the expected benefits for citizens. EIT health France is proud of what it has achieved together with Frédéric and his team and looks forward to seeing the current and future deployment of the solution.
