He leads ongoing strategy process
EIT Health has appointed Bart Haex as EIT Health Director of Strategy (ad interim). Bart, who took up the role on 1 February 2020, will lead the process of further developing EIT Health’s strategy.
Bart obtained both his MSc and PhD degrees at KU Leuven, studying sleep. His research is captured in the book “Back and Bed” and has resulted in several patents and spinoff companies. He has been advising the Flemish minister of Science, Innovation and Economy, and has been instrumental in setting up public-private institutions at the national and regional level, including the Leuven Medical Technology Centre. On the international level, he was deeply involved in the proposal phase of our InnoLife consortium, which was ultimately selected by EIT to become EIT Health.
Bart is a professor at Maastricht University (focusing on valorisation of research) and is connected to KU Leuven (biomechanics). Until recently, he has been combining his eMBA studies at Vlerick Business School (Belgium) with Business Creation management at EIT Health Belgium-Netherlands. This work is focused on access to finance and – more broadly – on the Accelerator strategy.
