DIGIVITALITY

The challenge

The health sector is digitalising fast. Innovative solutions are being developed but their market entry or broader application often fails due to structural shortcomings. The DIGIVITALITY project helps healthcare innovations to enter the healthcare market faster and to scale up more easily. To do so, the partnership develops a blueprint for smoother collaboration among start-ups, MedTechs, hospitals and innovation hubs, which is challenge-driven and based on open innovation.

EIT Health’s role

DIGIVITALITY aligns with EIT Health’s commitment to facilitate the uptake of digital medical devices (DMDs) across Europe and drive digital transformation in healthcare. We are supporting the project as a knowledge partner by providing the latest insights on DiGA, PECAN, mHealth, and other European assessment frameworks. Our vast and diverse healthcare innovation network means we are well-placed to facilitate dialogue with key public policy stakeholders in DIGIVITALITY countries and to support status analysis of partner healthcare ecosystems.

Objectives

The DIGIVITALITY project’s main goal is to facilitate the market entry of the digital health innovations. The project aims to improve collaboration among key healthcare stakeholders, including start-ups, MedTech companies, hospitals, and innovation hubs.

DIGIVITALITY will strengthen the capacities of key healthcare innovation ecosystem actors through open innovation training for MedTechs. The project also aims to scout start-ups to develop novel digital health applications through a start-up contest and international pitching event for finalists. DIGIVITALITY will establish a streamlined validation process, including early Health Technology Assessment and test-bed validation process.

The main output of the project will be the Digital Health Innovation Playbook which will guide innovation hubs, hospitals, MedTechs and start-ups on how to most effectively fast-tract their novel digital applications.
