What kind of Partner do you want to be?

There are four main types of Partners at EIT Health, each with its own selection criteria, rights and obligations within the EIT Health community.

Premium (Core) Partner

Premium (Core) Partners are typically more involved in the EIT Health community. They are regularly consulted and given the opportunity to vote on matters concerning the association.

When applying to become a Premium (Core) Partner of EIT Health, applicants must demonstrate that they have the capability and capacity to strongly contribute to EIT Health´s strategic objectives and that they add a complementary representation of the “knowledge triangle” within our overall Partner mix.

Premium (Core) Partners are requested to pay an annual membership fee of €65,000 to the EIT Health association. As such, they are granted two votes in the EIT Health Partner Assembly and can receive an unlimited amount of EIT financial support, when participating in the Business Plan. Additionally, they can involve an unlimited number of their Affiliated entities (entities with a legal link to the partner) in EIT Health activities.

Associate Partners

Associate Partners also play an important role in the execution of the EIT Health strategic objectives. They are consulted and given a vote when it comes to association matters.

When applying to become an Associate Partner of EIT Health, applicants must demonstrate that they have the capability and capacity to strongly contribute to EIT Health´s strategic objectives and that they add a complementary representation of the “knowledge triangle” within our overall Partner mix.

Associate Partners are requested to pay an annual membership fee of €25,000 to the EIT Health association and a 5% management fee on the amount of financial support received. As such, they are granted one vote in the EIT Health Partner Assembly and can receive an unlimited amount of EIT financial support, when participating in the Business Plan. Similarly to Premium (Core) Partners, they can involve an unlimited number of their Affiliated entities (entities with a legal link to the partner) in EIT Health activities, however a €5,000 fee is applied for each active Affiliated Entity in the Business Plan.

External Partners

In alignment with other Horizon Europe programmes, calls for proposals issued by EIT Health follow a principle of openness. As such, non-members of the association, known as External Partners, can propose and participate in activities in the EIT Health Business Plan.

External partners are in general not requested to pay a membership fee to the EIT Health association. Their participation in the Business Plan is limited to €50,000 of EIT financial support per financial year. Additionally, as of January 2024, EIT Health will apply a 10% management fee on EIT financial support received by external partners involved in the Business Plan.

Within the category of External Partners, differentiations are made with regards to SMEs. Organisations designated as Medium enterprises are requested to pay a membership fee of €10,000 and a 5% management fee on the amount of financial support received. Micro/Small companies participating in the EIT Health Business Plan are requested to pay a €1,000 membership fee and a 5% management fee on the amount of financial support received. However, in the situation that a Micro/Small company is acting as the commercialising entity in a Technology or Service development (formerly Innovation) activities and has chosen the Grant for Options financial sustainability model, it is exempt from paying the management fee. Additionally, organisations participating in the EIT Health Business Plan as SMEs are not, unlike other types of External Partners, limited to €50,000 of EIT financial support per financial year. Network Partners

Network Partners represent the user community that enable the implementation of EIT Health activities and innovations into the wider European community. Our network partners include municipalities, patient organisations and financiers such as business angels groups and venture capital companies, incubators, regional clusters, local accelerators, test bed hospitals, among others.

They are directly associated with one of our Co-location Centres and pay an agreed upon membership fee between €1,000 and €5,000 for the services provided.

If a Network Partner successfully applies to the Flagship Call for proposals, EIT Health will apply the same rules of participation as described above for External Partners.

Become a partner

All types of EIT Health partnership require an application procedure. The specific aspects of this process depend on the type of partner that the organisation is interested in becoming.

Premium (Core) and Associate partners must officially apply and be approved by EIT Health to become members of the association. This includes submitting an application letter and providing a presentation of the organisation to EIT Health for the purposes of application evaluation by the Management Board. It is recommended that an initial contact is established with the appropriate Co-location Centre by filling in the online form below.

External Partners become partners of the EIT Health community by successfully applying to calls for proposals. They do not need to formally apply to become members of the association or be approved by the Management Board.

Network Partners become partners of the EIT Health community by expressing their interest to the relevant Co-location Centre (CLC). Unlike other partner types, their partnership is directly linked to the Co-location Centre and as such the application process varies between CLCs.  For further information, please contact your Co-location Centre

All partners must accede to the relevant EIT Health legal framework and should acknowledge that their participation in the EIT Health Business Plan and association (EIT Health e.V.) will be subject to the provisions of the Articles of Association and By-Laws
