3rd April 2024

Chiesi Group, a leading global biopharmaceutical headquartered in Parma, Italy, and operating in 31 countries joins EIT Health, a network dedicated to promoting a healthier future for European citizens. This collaboration underscores both organisations’ strong commitment to healthcare innovation. Chiesi, renowned for its research-oriented approach and recognised as a B Corporation for its commitment to social and environmental performance, aligns perfectly with EIT Health’s mission.

Chiesi’s extensive portfolio encompasses therapeutic areas including respiratory diseases, spanning from infants to adults, rare and ultra-rare diseases, and specialist care, with a focus on personal well-being and specialist care solutions. By joining EIT Health- part of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a body of the European Union, Chiesi steps into a leading role as an industry partner. This alliance grants Chiesi access to a vast European personalised medicine network, additional funding opportunities, knowledge-sharing platforms, and the ability to influence European healthcare innovation policy.

Being part of EIT Health will boost and support our connection with the European ecosystem, reinforcing our value proposition through the scouting of promising solutions in our core areas, the development of innovative learning journeys and the synergy with other EIT members on projects of common interest focused on entrepreneurship and innovation.” Fabrizio Conicella, Head of Center of Open Innovation & Competence, Chiesi Farmaceutici.

Chiesi brings a multifaceted approach to healthcare innovation within the EIT Health network. Their extensive experience in pharmaceutical research and development enables them to contribute significantly to the creation of innovative healthcare solutions. With a focus on leveraging digital technologies to enhance patient outcomes, Chiesi will also share its expertise in digital health solutions. Operating in 31 countries, Chiesi offers a global perspective and network. Their proficiency in idea generation, innovation management, and start-up mentoring supports the growth and scalability of healthcare ventures within the network. Additionally, their experience in open innovation fosters collaboration and knowledge-sharing within the ecosystem.

The partnership between Chiesi and EIT Health presents opportunities for collaboration with over 120 leading institutions, companies, and universities across Europe, including Sorbonne University, GE Healthcare, Karolinska Institute and Philips. Italy’s healthcare start-up ecosystem is gaining recognition as one of the most promising in Europe, with numerous success stories emerging from the region. EIT Health’s presence in Italy, supported by internationally reknown partners like Synlab Italia and the University of Naples “Federico II,” further accelerates the growth and impact of healthcare innovation in the country.
