EIT Health Innovation Project RAMSES set for first release of EmergencyEye, a potentially life-saving innovation

Remote access to smartphone functions in emergency situations has its first release in Germany

Emergency Eye, a potentially life-saving system for remote access to smartphones that is being supported through an EIT Health Innovation Project, is set for first release implementation on Monday, 23 July 2018.

According to an announcement from project partner Corevas GmbH & Co.KG, the system will be rolled out in the area of Rhein-Kreis-Neuss, Germany, offering service to thousands of people in need. This is a major step toward national and international release.

The RAMSES technology and the product EmergencyEye provide access to information, utilising the smartphones from bystanders in emergency and health crises situations as a smart companion and data hub, which enables emergency case managers to proactively close their information gap and to access concrete information like geolocation and even establish instant video-interactions. Emergency case management professionals can use EmergencyEye to remotely activate the smartphone functionalities as needed and without preinstallation of applications.

The system allows instant sharing of comprehensive, deep information and images – a major improvement over the current best practice. With full control over the flow of information and data in emergency and health crisis situations, emergency case management professionals can improve diagnoses setting and provide better remote assistance and guidance, saving lives, especially in extreme situations like sudden cardiac arrest.

The roll-out in Germany, starts with the Emergency-dispatch center in Rhein-Kreis-Neuss. This marks a major milestone in the development of this EIT Health-supported project, which is slated for international expansion in 2019.

Along with producing EmergencyEye, the RAMSES consortium and Corevas GmbH & Co.KG as the driving force is also behind an EIT Health RAMSES Summer School and two Hackathons, one in February and another in March 2018.
