LSee: Metabolic tracking device

16th July 2019

EIT Health helps LSee discover new markets in the health and fitness world

Supported by EIT Health France, LSee, a start-up that helps different individuals understand how their body is burning or storing fat, has been involved in many programmes of EIT Health in 2017: Headstart, European Health Catapult, and Product Market Fit.

In 2016, half of the world’s population was considered overweight. Several solutions are available to reverse overweight today: coaching, exercise, diet intervention, slimming pills. However, these solutions do not take into account that we are all different

LSee’s solution is a real time fat burning monitoring device. LSee gives real time data about what is happening in our body. This device analyses fat loss biomarkers with a single drop of blood without the requirement of a complete lab. The results are sent to the free mobile application of LSee. It tells exactly how much fat people have just burnt with the exercise, or it can tell how much energy the food you ate is bringing. Users get tailored nutrition and sport recommendations based on their metabolism for optimal fat loss and health. They can focus on what work best for their metabolism, instead of wasting time with random diets or activities.

This technology is unique. A patent is protecting this new device and LSee’s team is convinced that affordable portable real-time fat burning analysis will be a huge innovation for overweight people. Plus, this device is developed in collaboration with fitness centres and nutritionists, helping LSee benefit from their expertise. The team also has strong partnerships with Taiwanese suppliers to produce the tracker and the strips. They are planning to start the production mid 2018. In the first stage, they will target the professional athletes, and people who want to lose weight.

The headquarters is based in Ajaccio (Corsica) and the R&D department is based in Paris to work closely with universities. We are a team of five people, including the founder. LSee’s core team has a proven capacity to work with a blend of entrepreneurship spirit, passion for sport and diets, electrochemistry expertise and international business experience.

At the end of 2018, the team is planning to equip their partners (fitness centres, coaches, nutritionists) with the tracker. Posting many videos on social media to explain their solution will be very helpful to promote the tracker.

LSee is currently in discussion with many fitness centres in France. Furthermore, their goal is to reach UK, Germany and USA – considering that these areas have the market which has the needs and cultural fit for this solution.
