“Praça da Saúde” in Porto

The healthy lifestyle event for citizens of Porto

“Praça da Saúde” is an EIT Health event, which is a result of the collaboration between the University of Porto, the University of Coimbra, Pedro Nunes Institute and other entities associated with the University of Porto. The event took place on 23 November, at the Rectory of the University of Porto, Portugal.

The main activities of the event were lectures and conferences, during which citizens could discuss and learn about health-related issues; healthy lifestyle assessments in accordance with the Healthy Lifestyle Assessment Toolkit developed as part of the European project Healthy Lifestyle Innovation Quarters for Cities and Citizens (HeaLIQs 4 Cities).

Participants were also able to observe the exhibition of products, technologies and services provided by local companies. The event also hosted a cooking show presenting a healthy and sustainable cuisine and physical exercise lessons.

During the event, EIT Health was also presented to the community by Nuno Viegas, which shed light on the cooperation developed within the consortium and the ways each region can benefit from this collaboration.

Elísio Costa and Joana Carrilho, from the University of Porto, talked about the role of EIT Health on the North of Portugal’s ecosystem. João Malva, from the University of Coimbra, and António Cunha, from the Pedro Nunes Institute (also in Coimbra), approached the same topic but focused on the particular area in Portugal.
