EIT Health wins at the 2021 Association Excellence Awards

12th October 2021

Last week, EIT Health won a silver award for the ‘Making Connections’ platform at the 2021 Association Excellence Awards in the ‘Best Digital Marketing’ category.

Launched early in the pandemic, the Making Connections platform was designed to support innovators and frontline healthcare workers to share and access knowledge and resources quickly and effectively. With key gaps becoming apparent in equipment, data, skills, and crisis strategy, the EIT Health community was mobilised to collaborate; pooling strengths and working together.

Implemented and leveraged by the EIT Health communications team with strong media and digital tactics, the platform was attracting approx. 3,500 visitors at its peak and led to many fruitful crisis-focussed collaborations.

The awards judges said:

Very topical. Making Connections was innovative with impressive stats and reach. The campaign used an excellent video which was crisp and clean with positive messaging. The team showed a fast and comprehensive answer to a major societal challenge with impressive results and engagement.”

The Association Excellence Awards take place annually, and is designed to recognise the essential work that associations, trade bodies, unions and professional organisations conduct on behalf of their members. EIT Health was recognised with a silver award, with the BBC taking the gold award.

Balazs Furjes, Director of EIT Health InnoStars shared, “The Making Connections platform was an example of what innovation cohesion and inclusivity means for EIT Health. The whole of Europe, including more progressing regions, were actively working on solving COVID-19 challenges together. In fact, we saw that more progressive regions in terms of innovation were driving a huge amount of engagement on the platform from the very beginning. My hope for the future is that we can keep this momentum – working across borders and disciplines, with a focussed and highly motivated ecosystem whose fundamental aim is to help patients, citizens and society.”
