Applications to TEF-Health are open! TEF-Health currently has two active Open Calls for subsidised testing, validation, and certification services in health AI and robotics. These calls support SMEs in accessing state-of-the-art European testing facilities and expert guidance.

Who should apply

TEF-Health currently has two active Open Calls with distinct eligibility requirements:

Call #1 (Portuguese Node services):

  • Legally incorporated and established in an EU Member State or a country associated with the Digital Europe Programme.
  • SME status according to the EU definition (Commission Recommendation 2003/361/EC).
  • Minimum Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 4 (self-declared by the SME).
  • Self-declare that the solution is not already supported by another Portuguese National Network Testbed.

Call #2 (Pan-European services):

  • Legally incorporated and established in an EU or EEA member state.
  • SME status according to the EU definition.Minimum Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 6 (self-declared by the SME).

State Aid Support and Compliance

Selected SMEs may benefit from discounts on service costs as state aid, under EU rules. The specific mechanism depends on the call and service provider:

  • Article 28 of GBER Regulation: For eligible services under Call #1 (Portuguese Node).
    • Limit of 220,000 EUR in state aid support over the previous 3 fiscal years. Applicants typically demonstrate compliance via a self-declaration or “declaration of honour.” Note: available only to companies incorporated or established in Portugal.
  • EU Regulation nº1407/2013 (de minimis): For services under both Call #1 and Call #2.
    • Limit of 300,000 EUR in state aid support over the previous 3 fiscal years.
    • Evidence must be provided according to local or EU requirements.
