The best innovators in healthcare will pitch at Bio-Europe

21st October 2020

At the end of October we will get to know the best teams of this year’s editions of InnoStars Awards and Headstart InnoStars edition. Who will collect the laurels and join the EIT Health family of the best European start-ups?

At Bio-Europe 2020, the very best teams coming from Central, Eastern and Southern Europe will conquer for the title of Winners of this year’s editions of InnoStars Awards and Headstart.  Bio-Europe, which is the largest biotechnology partnering conference in Europe, will hold two major events from EIT Health:

  • InnoStars Awards finals
  • EIT Health Headstart programme finals (InnoStars edition)

Both of these programmes are great opportunities for finalists to capitalize on their innovations and have their projects accelerated by EIT Health provident funding mentoring, networking and matchmaking. But you can be a beneficiary, too. Finalists will present their ideas and pitch them to jurors. It is a unique opportunity to observe: see what ideas are being recognized in InnoStars Awards and Headstart programme, how they are pitched, what the winning narratives are and so on.

EIT Health InnoStars Awards final

During the InnoStars Awards Grand final, 10 promising InnoStars Awards semi-finalists from Hungary, Romania, Croatia, Italy, Lithuania, Slovakia, Latvia and Portugal will compete for three top prizes: €25 000, €15 000 or €10 000. This event will take place on 26 October 2020 at 14:30 – 16.00 CET.

“The finalists of both InnoStars Awards and Headstart programme went through a rigorous filtering process and worked very hard to get to the final stage of both competitions. That’s why I am sure the solutions and pitches presented at these finals will be of exceptional quality, the best in business and these are the start-ups who should be followed by both healthcare experts and investors” said Tamas Bekasi, EIT Health InnoStars RIS Business Creation Manager.

EIT Health Headstart grand finals

Another group of successful innovators will show off at EIT Headstart InnoStars edition grand finals. This year, there are 15 programme finalists in two categories. Due to the pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2 virus, the application was divided into projects related to the main competition and to the solutions focused on fighting back COVID-19. The selected teams come both from InnoStars (Italy, Portugal, Poland, Hungary) and EIT Health RIS regions (Greece, Estonia, Romania and Latvia). This event will take place on 28 October 2020 at 14:00 CET (Covid Cohort) and on 29 October 2020 from 11:00 CET to 12:00 (Cohort A) and from 15:30 CET (Cohort B) and the teams will be competing for the support of up to €50 000.

“It’s a two-way benefit from both EIT competitions finals. Obviously, the finalists are there to accelerate their projects. But on the other hand, outside observers will have a unique opportunity to see ideas in action, with innovators doing their best to win over jurors and investors. It will be definitely an event to gather inspirations that will, hopefully, fuel the next wave of innovators,” said Inês Matias, EIT Health InnoStars Business Creation Manager.
