The German start-up Living Brain receives EXIST Grant

16th August 2019

Making neurorehabilitation more effective and contemporary

EIT Health Germany is proud to announce that the German start-up Living Brain has been awarded an EXIST Business start-up grant.

The EXIST Business Start-up Grants support students, graduates and scientists from universities and research institutes on their journey from the business idea to the business plan.

Living Brain was created by Barbara Stegmann and Julian Specht (both students at the SRH Hochschule Heidelberg) in May 2016 in an attempt to bring neurorehabilitation to the 21st century and make it more effective at the same time. Through the use of virtual reality, neurosurgically-treated patients gain access to new tools for cognitive rehabilitation; regardless of their location.

The development of this solution is scientifically supported by the University Hospital Freiburg and the SRH Hochschule Heidelberg. In April 2017, Living Brain won the Special Award for Medical Innovation at the Rhine-Neckar-Start-up-Weekend. They subsequently participated in the Life Science meets IT Hackathon, an event co-hosted by EIT Health Germany and local incubators in and around Heidelberg.
