Strengthening awareness of EIT Health among healthcare professionals in InnoStars

Smart Technology Mix at HUNGAROMED

On 11-13 October, thousands of attendees flooded to HUNGAROMED Medical Technology Exhibition and fair at the HUNGEXPO Centre in Budapest. The purpose of the exhibition and related programmes was to provide an opportunity to present the development and technological results of medical innovations to healthcare professionals.

The focus of the event was the target group. The first two days of the event were addressed to healthcare professionals: hospital- and polyclinic leaders, doctors, actors of medical industry, policy makers, and public administration experts. The event offered an overview on the advantages of innovations as well as providing information to those parties interested in patient care. The third day of the exhibition was open to the public audience.

On the 2300 square meters, 97 exhibitors – including the largest medical technology manufacturers and distributors, healthcare providers, insurance companies and professional organisations – presented their products and services. Throughout the exhibition and the related programmes, the latest technological achievements, analyses and reports were available.

EIT Health InnoStars partnering with the local medical and technical universities (Semmelweis Medical University, Budapest University of Technology and Economics) provided opportunities to link idea holders, start-ups, researchers and innovation project partnerships with business actors by a dedicated EIT Health booth at the main exhibition hall with a cutting edge digital event information service (Rabbit Technologies) where exhibitors were able to share content and learn about visitors’ preferences. Visitors could access virtual business cards and digital content on their mobile devices without downloading any app or connecting through a USB device.

The exhibition was the Smart Technology Mix event of RIS regions, aiming to disseminate latest technological achievements, to foster industry-university cooperation and to inspire creative minds in RIS regions to generate new ideas and project proposals, themselves.

Among the teams and start-ups which participated from EIT Health InnoStars were Nebula X Medical with a new cancer screening solution, DiabTrend with an AI-based analytics application for diabetes, MedInnoScan with a new computer visual technic of imaging diagnostics, HandInScan with technology-based, quality assured hand hygiene education and control, Notch Interfaces with motion capture on mobile technology to track movement and analyze posture right on smartphone, and the teams of BrainMarathon.

During the exhibition, the participants of BrainMarathon, 40 young talented professionals, mostly from RIS regions, validated their innovative solutions how to improve accessibility to healthcare services with the use of modern technologies in the less developed regions.

Exhibition visitors enjoyed a frictionless networking experience with those young talents when they visited the EIT Health Smart Technology Mix booth. Visitors simply logged in on Rabbit’s visitor facing platform to access the profiles of these young entrepreneurs. The hundreds of medical professionals gave feedback and valuable insight about the concepts the “BrainMarathoners” were working on, leading to a seamless industry-university co-creation experience.
