17th December 2018
This year’s edition brought truly innovative ideas that can impact the healthcare sector.
On 13 December, the University of Naples Federico II, an EIT Health Partner, organised a Final Pitch Contest for the teams of Smart-up Lab@Naples and the graduation ceremony for the participants of the programme.
The winner is Belti Team, who created a medical device to measure physiological and pathological changes for metabolic syndromes.
The final, which took place in Naples, at the University of Naples Federico II, was a crowning achievement of the second edition of the international programme funded by EIT Health and organised by an EIT Health Partner – Medical University of Łódź, in cooperation with SynLab, IIT, SDN and University of Naples Federico II.
Smart-Up Lab@Naples was promoted by EIT Health InnoStars and organised by the Department of Economics, Management, Institutions of the University of Naples Federico II with the collaboration of the Centre for Innovation and Technology Transfer – Medical University of Lodz.
It is based on the E-Lab concept and enables students to collaborate in small groups on major health challenges. Activities such as training, workshops, challenges, hackathons, mentoring, networking and events, that were provided to the participants, may generate business projects of economic and social value.
The Smart-Up Lab is about the selection of young people, coming from various study paths as well as activating, directing and accompanying them, in a technical and coordinated way, in the exploration of the fascinating entrepreneurial challenges dictated by the so-called active and healthy life.
It is worth to mentioning that the Partner Unina-Demi organised a Health Hackathon in collaboration with Kelyon Corporate on 28 November 2018. The Health Hackathon represented a real opportunity for students, innovators, researchers and young professionals to showcase their skills. This was a great way to inspire SmartUpLab teams and promote creativity, collaboration, and innovative thinking.
