ASK: Experts needed to validate simulation model

3rd April 2020

KTH Royal Institute of Technology develops simulation model to help manage logistics of the COVID-19 pandemic

The KTH Royal Institute of Technology is working on a simulation model that will help with anticipating and planning staffing, supplies management and clinic organisation, to synchronize with the level of COVID19 cases as they evolve in each community. They are asking for help in validating the model.

The model will work in tandem with COVID19 epidemiological models to get projections of cases, which will act as demand on the logistics model(s). The model can be extended in other directions to plan for equipment and material chains as well.

The team would like clinicians, healthcare administrators or ward managers to get in touch and help them to validate their models. Modelling and simulation help would also be much appreciated.

The team is also keen to understand how they can better resource hospitals and primary care settings in the future to deal with pandemics like this. They are looking for data on hospital and primary healthcare capacities and demand, either current or previous years.
