EIT Health Hub runs Picnic for Health

Sixty-three stands, more than a thousand examinations and hundreds of advices given, art contests, healthy food degustation and lots of activities focused on promoting wellbeing and active ageing. That is only a short brief of 13. edition of Picnic for Health organised by one of EIT Health Hubs – the Medical University of Gdańsk which took place on 8 June 2019 in Gdańsk region, Poland.

The Medical University of Gdańsk – EIT Health Hub – educates about healthy living and active ageing, promoting EIT Health activities as well.

The Picnic for Health is well-known local event with aim to educate citizens about healthy living, wellbeing and active ageing. This year local communities could have learnt breast self-examination, first aid rules using an automatic defibrillator (AED) or learnt how to do surgical sewing. It was possible to check the dermatoscopic signs and prepare the ointment yourself. Participants could do hearing screening tests or join medical and psychological consultations.

This was also a good occasion to learn more about EIT Health activities, such as Education and Accelerator Programmes. EIT Health opportunities were presented among interested scientists and entrepreneurs who want to elaborate their innovative ideas. Representatives of MUG’s Technology Transfer Office have invited participants to complete an anonymous survey about ‘Healthy lifestyle’. Picnic for Health was organized by the Medical University of Gdansk together with the University Clinical Centre and Hevelianum Centre.
