MOOC promoting Salsa for healthy ageing starts 5 March

EIT Health supports courses, offered in both French and English, that feature five training modules

Seniors are invited to go online for a multimedia course about how to stay healthy by dancing, starting 5 March 2018. DANCESalsa, a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) that anyone can join via the internet, is sponsored by EIT Health.

Trainers include staff of Salsabor Latin dance school, who will give parctical sessions on dancing Salsa. The MOOC, which also features lessons about Salsa culture, is designed to provide a motivating initiation to Salsa using explicative videos, practical exercises and other diverse tools. In conjunction with the online course, there will be two live Salsa dancing classes, to be held in Paris.

The course, available both in French and Englsih, will have five one-hour segments, held every two weeks for ten weeks. By the end of the course, online learners in the MOOC will have the capacity to do the basic Salsa steps, solo or in pairs.

The MOOC was created by three EIT Health Partners, E-Seniors, the University of Grenoble-Alpes and IESE Business School, in collaboration with the Salsabor dancing school.

The goal of the project is to contribute to increasing physical activities, social inclusion, mental stimulation and active ageing.
