Meet the First Cohort of Start-ups Fast-Tracking Innovation with InnoStars SPICE

The first group of start-ups selected for tailored support through the EIT Health InnoStars SPICE was announced. These seven pioneering ventures will participate in a one- year programme designed to refine their solutions, strengthen their business models, and accelerate their market entry. Each start-up will benefit from strategic collaboration worth up to €160,000 per team.

  • BestHealth4U – Developing next-generation skin-friendly adhesives for medical applications to enhance patient comfort and treatment effectiveness. https://besthealth4u.pt/

  • iLoF – Using AI and photonics to accelerate drug discovery and advance personalised medicine. https://ilof.tech/
  • Neofunction – is revolutionising oral hygiene for individuals with fixed braces through Neo Pill, an innovative device that employs electrolysis technology to effectively eliminate bacteria in hard-to-reach areas. https://neo-pill.com/
  • NIB Biotec – specialises in developing a low-cost, non-invasive diagnostic test designed to improve the speed and accuracy of prostate cancer screening by detecting specific urinary biomarkers, offering a more accessible alternative to traditional methods. https://www.nibbiotec.com/en/
  • Robota – is developing a fully automated machine for sterilising surgical instruments, integrating advanced robotics to enhance speed, efficiency, and safety while ensuring strict hygiene compliance. https://www.robota.run/ 

 

Tailored Support to Accelerate Innovation

Each selected start-up underwent a rigorous evaluation to identify the specific services and milestones crucial for their success. The SPICE programme will now provide expert-led support in key areas. Depending on their needs, this may include regulatory strategy, clinical validation, financial modeling, and market expansion.

Driving Healthcare Innovation Across Europe

The Strategic Partnership Initiatives for Competitive Edge (SPICE) programme is designed to fast-track market entry and scale up healthcare innovations in emerging and moderate innovator regions across Europe. Offering up to €160,000 in tailored support per project, the programme helps start-ups with a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of 6 or higher navigate key challenges, including regulatory compliance, quality assurance, intellectual property strategy, reimbursement pathways, and investment readiness.

SPICE collaborates with highly skilled Implementing Partners who provide hands-on expertise to guide start-ups through the complexities of scaling a healthcare solution.

By fostering collaboration between start-ups, industry leaders, and research institutions, SPICE plays a key role in accelerating groundbreaking healthcare solutions, ensuring innovative technologies reach patients and healthcare systems faster and more efficiently.
