EIT Health is calling for innovative digital and AI-powered medical technologies that are at an Innovation Maturity Level (IML) 6 and ready for clinical validation and market launch. Selected projects will be awarded funding to run pivotal clinical studies, collect real-world evidence to demonstrate safety and efficacy, apply for regulatory approval, and prepare for market commercialisation.
Who can apply?
Consortia of at least two organisations from different countries representing at least two sides of the Knowledge Triangle (industry, research, education). A commercialising company must lead the project. Eligible solutions must be digital or AI-enabled medical devices (MDR/IVDR) at Innovation Maturity Level (IML) 6, aiming to reach IML 7 by project end. Please refer to EIT Health’s Healthcare Innovation Cycle Framework for more information on the required Innovation Maturity Level for this call.
Funding
EIT Health will fund up to 50% of the total project budget, up to a total grant funding amount of €850,000 per project. The commercialising entity must sign a Financial Sustainability Contribution Agreement and, in the case that it is a micro or small enterprise, must receive €400,000–€500,000 of the grant.
What we fund
Funding will be awarded for up to 24 months for activities enabling clinical validation (i.e. pivotal clinical studies), regulatory submission (i.e. CE-mark application dossier), product finalisation, market readiness and commercial strategy.
Expected outcomes
Solutions must have the potential to impact 150,000 EU patients/citizens and aim to be on the market and generating at least €10,000 in revenues within 3 years after the funding period.
