Scanner provides quality control of handwashing

7th April 2020

Instant check for cleanliness

HandInScan, a veteran of two EIT Health Accelerator programmes, is a start-up that allows for immediate monitoring to ensure that a handwashing has effectively removed potential infections like the coronavirus.

When someone puts their hands in the firm’s Semmelweis Scanner, they see a screen image of any places they missed while cleaning.

Hand hygiene is the most effective way to reduce the spread of pathogens, including coronavirus. HandInScan’s Semmelweis Scanner provides immediate quality-assurance of a handwashing and can objectively evaluate and record every hand disinfection event by each user, generating statistics and proper reporting.

HandInScan is an innovative health-tech company focusing on the prevention of healthcare-associated infections, control of outbreaks and biological contamination. HandInScan provides technology-based, quality assured solutions that includes hand hygiene education and control – leading to a safer and more efficient operation in healthcare, food industry, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals. The core of this technology is digital imaging combined with proprietary software technology to create objective assessment on the quality of hand hygiene.

HandInScan was one of the first winners of the EIT Health InnoStars Awards in 2016. They also participated in the EIT Health Bridgehead programme in 2019.
