Izabel led Leitat’s Health Platform before joining EIT Health Spain and, since 2015, supports the EU Commission as independent expert in proposals and projects’ evaluation and review.
EIT Health Spain, Spanish hub of the largest health innovation network in Europe, has appointed Izabel Alfany as operations and business development lead, a newly created position effective November 2021.
Izabel Alfany has more than 16 years’ experience in life sciences and health and has dedicated the latest 10 years to innovation and international collaboration in this field. Under her new position, Izabel will lead the strategy development and will manage the organization’s operations. She will also coordinate open innovation programmes and will consolidate sustainability initiatives at EIT Health Spain.
“Izabel’s appointment will reinforce the relevance of the Spanish hub within the EIT Health European organization and consolidates it to address its mission of promoting health innovation in Spain”, highlighted Cristina Bescós, managing director, EIT Health Spain.
Izabel Alfany is a Biologist, holds a Doctorate in Physiology by the University of Barcelona and a Business Innovation Master by the EUNCET Business School & Polytechnic University of Catalonia. Before Joining EIT Health Spain, Izabel leaded the Health Platform at Leitat, a top-ranked Spanish RTO (Research and Technology Organization)
Izabel has worked as a co-chair of the MedTech working group at EARTO, advocating for RTO’s interests in the European funding programmes, while reinforcing their position as key stakeholders. She also represented the Spanish members at the Strategy Board of Innovation at EIT Health.
Besides, she has being supporting the EU Commission since 2015, as an independent expert, in proposals’ evaluation and projects’ review.
