Health Tech Hub Styria

The EIT Health Austria hub opened its doors at the beginning of this year and right away a closer look at the hub was given to the participants at the Health Tech Hub Styria event on 28 January.

Representatives of our partners Daniel Pressl from WILD Gruppe and Selma Mautner from the Medizinische Universität Graz were hosting an online presentation and workshop session to present the EIT Health network and introduce the workshop participants to our new Regional Innovation Hub (RIH) EIT Health Austria. In the two-part session, first Daniel Pressl and Selma Mautner provided an overview of and insight into the EIT Health network with its potentials and capabilities, adding their individual points of view. In the case of WILD Group, who has been a pioneering partner since the beginning of Austrian partners to join EIT Health network, Daniel Pressl presented selected examples of the variety of opportunities in EIT networks that the WILD Group has already been able to participate in, such as developing an innovative ventilator for the Pandemic Call, from EIT Manufacturing, as well as being the organizational lead for the EIT Health iDays Austria 2020 and 2021 and continuing 2022. Selma Mautner focused on the educational and research areas of EIT Health and presented the MUG as a newly joint partner starting 2022 and informed about the foundation and opening of the EIT Health RIH Austria.

In the second part of the session, Daniel Pressl and Selma Mautner were joined by guest speaker Kurt Höller, Director of Business Creation at EIT Health, who gave detailed insights into the activities of the network in business creation and provided insightful examples of successful EIT Health ventures as well the digital business creation platform provided by EIT Health. This session was concluded with a virtual workshop including all participants as well as the three speakers through a virtual flipchart, where all participants wrote down competences on how they could contribute to EIT Health and the newly founded EIT Health RIH Austria and vice-versa, for better value-based healthcare, in the near future. Following a constructive discussion with all participants, the session concluded with a motivating and constructive outlook of the EIT Health Austria partners and made potentially new partners aware of the opportunity to join the Austrian partners.
