Join EIT Health as our new Compliance & Governance Officer

EIT Health is looking for an experienced and independent Compliance & Governance Officer to strengthen our governance and compliance framework and contribute to the responsible management of EU funding across our pan-European health innovation network.

As one of Europe’s largest health innovation communities, EIT Health brings together organisations from business, research, education and healthcare to drive innovation and improve health outcomes. Strong governance, transparency and accountability are essential to delivering on this mission.

We are seeking a professional who can combine strategic thinking, independent judgement and strong stakeholder engagement to help reinforce our culture of ethics, integrity and accountability.

About the role

The Compliance & Governance Officer will play a central role in ensuring that EIT Health maintains effective governance, compliance and internal control arrangements.

Reporting directly to the Supervisory Board, with an administrative reporting line to the CEO, the successful candidate will work closely with senior management, governing bodies and the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT).

Key responsibilities include:

  • Compliance and governance: Monitoring regulatory compliance, advising on governance matters and supporting the continued development of EIT Health’s compliance management system.
  • EU funding oversight: Assessing compliance arrangements for EU funds and grants, promoting transparency and sound financial management.
  • Risk management and fraud prevention: Identifying compliance and fraud risks, recommending preventive measures and supporting the organisation’s anti-fraud framework.
  • Internal controls: Monitoring the effectiveness of internal control arrangements and recommending improvements.
  • Stakeholder engagement: Working with the Supervisory Board, management, the EIT and relevant authorities to support effective reporting and accountability.

Who we’re looking for

The ideal candidate will bring substantial professional experience in compliance, governance, risk management, audit or a related field, together with a strong understanding of EU funding frameworks.

We are particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate:

  • Senior-level experience in compliance, internal control, risk management, audit or related areas, typically eight years or more.
  • Knowledge of EU funds, grant management and associated control mechanisms.
  • Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Independence, sound judgement and a commitment to professional integrity.
  • Business-level proficiency in English and German.

Experience in EU-funded, international, non-profit or public-interest organisations would be particularly valuable.

Why join EIT Health?

This is an opportunity to help shape the compliance and governance function of a leading European health innovation network.

The successful candidate will contribute to strengthening the systems and processes that underpin EIT Health’s work, supporting the responsible use of public funding and promoting a culture of accountability across an international organisation.

With direct engagement with the Supervisory Board and the EIT, the role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the governance of an organisation dedicated to advancing healthcare innovation in Europe.
