1. EIT Health signs agreement with West Pharmaceutical Services

EIT Health announced that it had signed a collaboration agreement with West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc in January 2023. By becoming a member of EIT Health, West gains a line of sight into emerging health technologies being developed by European scientists, healthcare professionals, researchers, patients, clinicians, and entrepreneurs.

This partnership marked West Pharmaceutical Service’s entry into Europe’s largest health innovation network, which unites 280 distinguished organizations across research, business, education, and health services. Combining an expansive network and commitment to evolving healthcare delivery, this collaboration has the potential to create transformative changes in patient care and well-being.

2. EIT Health-supported start-ups in Ireland secure €75.3M in funding during 2022

EIT Health Ireland-UK celebrated 16 of the 100+ start-ups it has supported in Ireland to date as they secured an impressive €75.3 million in public and private funding throughout 2022. Each of the biotech, digital health, and MedTech start-ups has previously participated on an EIT Health business accelerator programme or been part of a pan-European innovation project facilitated by EIT Health. Over 40% of the start-ups are female founded or co-founded, and over 60% are Alumni of the University of Galway’s BioInnovate Ireland Fellowship programme, that is co-funded by Enterprise Ireland.

3. Highlights from the 19th National Health Summit

In February 2023, the EIT Health Ireland-UK team attended the 19th National Health Summit in Dublin, hosted by Business Post events. The event provided a platform for leaders in the health service to share experiences and discuss the impact of current reforms. One key takeaway was the emphasis on patient-centred healthcare, reframing the approach to prioritize patient well-being.

Collaboration and innovation were also central themes, with healthcare professionals and experts showcasing innovative solutions to enhance healthcare delivery. The summit created a platform for frontline innovators who are driving positive change within the healthcare system.
