Accelerate the growth of your healthcare start-up with the Transformative Healthcare Instrument.
EIT Health is offering between €300,000 and €500,000 in funding to support high-potential European start-ups developing innovative solutions in biotech, medtech, digital health, AI, and biomarkers or diagnostics. The programme is designed to help companies advance product development, strengthen commercialisation strategies, and prepare for their next stage of fundraising while addressing unmet clinical needs across Europe.
The call information and supporting documents are now available to help applicants prepare their proposals. Access to the application platform will open on 15 July 2026.
Who can apply?
The THI is intended to support private companies, specifically Micro, Small and Medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with at least 4 full-time equivalent employees. Eligible companies must have closed a minimum total equity investment of 2,000,000 EUR within the previous 36-months, with at least one new investor contributing. Funded projects must be at the Innovation Maturity Levels (IML) listed below, depending on their industry focus:
- IML ≥ 5 for Biotech (Safety/Toxicity study stage).
- IML≥ 6 in Medtech (Initial clinical PoC)
- IML ≥ 7 for Digital (Market validation)
- IML ≥ 7 for Biomarker / Diagnostics
Funding
Projects may request between 300,000 and 500,000 EUR in EIT Health funding. EIT Health will fund a maximum of 50% of the project’s total costs. The company must secure the remaining 50% co-funding from other sources.

How to apply
From 15 July 2026.
- Step 1: Register your organisation in the EU Funding & tender opportunities portal to obtain the nine-digit Participant Identification Code (PIC number). If you do not know if your organisation already has a PIC number, you can verify directly on the EU Portal whether your organisation is already registered.
- Step 2: Apply to the call via EIT Health’s application platform. Click on the “Apply” button below.
