How We Are Funded 

EIT Health | Organisation  

EIT Health operates through a combination of public funding, member contributions, and selected commercial activities that support our long-term sustainability.

Any revenue generated is fully reinvested into our mission, supporting innovation, education, and entrepreneurship in healthcare.

Our funding sources include: 

 

European Union Funding via EIT

As part of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), we receive funding from the EU under programmes such as Horizon 2020, supporting research and innovation across Europe.

Member Contributions

Our members contribute annual fees, enabling collaboration, access to our ecosystem, and active participation in EIT Health activities.

Regional and National Funding

We collaborate with regional and governmental organisations that invest in advancing healthcare innovation, including institutions such as the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs.

Governance and Boards of EIT Health

Management Board

Our employees are led by our Management Board who lead the day-to-day operations of EIT Health, representing all teams in our organisation and across Europe. It comprises key management roles including the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer and Director Stakeholder Management.

Supervisory Board

Our Management Team is appointed by the Supervisory Board, who supervise the work of the Management Team and makes strategic decisions that guide our organisation.

Advisory Boards

To ensure we are complying with relevant laws and codes of conduct, we also work with a number of Advisory Boards including:

  • The Ethical, Legal and Societal Issues (ELSI) board who provide guidance on ethical, legal and societal matters.

  • The Intellectual Property (IP) board who provide guidance on intellectual property matters.
  • Partner Assembly

    The Partner Assembly is made up of members that have been accepted following our thorough application process, it is the highest decision-making body in our organisation. The Assembly is responsible for choosing the Supervisory Board.

    We are a dynamic and diverse team working across Europe to improve lives through healthcare innovation. Headquartered in Munich, Germany, EIT Health operates through a pan-European network of 27 EIT Community Offices, enabling collaboration at both regional and European levels.
