EIT Health partners with UBI Global innovation intelligence company and community

23rd August 2019

UBI Global has a network of over 700 business incubators and accelerators in more than 70 countries

EIT Health has signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate with UBI Global – a research and consulting firm, plus community of worldwide innovators, based in Stockholm, Sweden.

UBI Global specialises in business incubation and entrepreneurship development and enables matchmaking and collaboration within the international innovation ecosystem. The cooperation will provide new contacts for EIT Health and its start-ups, expanding our outreach among incubators and investors.

Thanks to the agreement, selected start-ups supported by EIT Health will be invited to the new UBI Global World Startup Challenge, “a unique global firestarter competition that identifies the 1 000 most promising start-ups” in their community.

EIT Health’s own network of incubators and accelerators will also benefit from UBI Global’s services, including participation in their research initiatives and entry to the World Incubation Summit – a two-day event to be held in Doha, Qatar in October.

UBI Global is an interactive community of 700 incubators and accelerators located in more than 70 countries and representing more than 20 000 startups. Known for its world ranking of university-linked incubation programmes called The World Benchmark Study, UBI Global supports its community with original research, in-person events, and a digital networking platform and by uncovering business opportunities for its member incubators and accelerators- for example with corporations and governments interested in partnership, investment, and data.

In addition to expanding our network and connections, EIT Health will utilise UBI Global’s research methodology to:

  • evaluate business incubators and accelerators in the EIT Health network;
  • expand its network of incubation programs that support start-ups and entrepreneurs in the healthcare industry;
  • promote EIT Health services to the global innovation community in general, and the European innovation community in particular.

Dr. Kurt Höller, EIT Health Director of Business Creation, says about the agreement: “As the world leading ranking on university-linked business incubators, UBI has developed strong knowledge about analysing and evaluating specific strengths within physical incubators,” he said. “Our goal at EIT Health is to partner with, and learn from, the best incubators worldwide while also establishing a strong European network of top health incubators within our community. Beneficiaries will be not only start-ups within our cross-border Bridgehead programme, but also our partners in academia and industry who want to position and grow their incubators internationally.”
