Entremo supported by EIT Health InnoStars wins #EUvsVirus Hackathon in Health and Life category

Hungarian group – Entremo, which EIT Health InnoStars granted at the beginning of April to support the development of their 3D printed glasses, won the first edition of #EUvsVirus Hackathon hosted by the European Commission in Health and Life category.

The team is a force

Entremo is a group of six young innovators, who decided to face COVID-19 challenge, and they created a 3D printed prototype of a medical device to improve remote monitoring of patients infected by the coronavirus. The device makes it possible to monitor patient’s vital signs such as temperature or oxygen saturation without the necessity of direct contact between physicians, nurses and the patient. One nurse can oversee even a hundred patients at the same time, while automatic alert functionalities make it possible to diagnose deteriorating cases instantly, thus enabling quicker reaction times. The prototype costs EUR 21, and thanks to the effect of the scale the cost can be even lower. Their solution was recognised as the best one out of 900 projects in the health-related category of this very first #EUvsVirus pan-European hackathon, organised by the European Commission.

We were in close contact with them during both hackathons (Hack the Crisis and EUvsVirus) and their guidance and support proved to be game-changing in hindsight.” – says Peter Lakatos from Entremo.

Hacking the coronavirus together

#EUvsVirus initiative was the first pan-European hackathon hosted by the European Commission and the European Innovation Council in collaboration with the EU member states to answer COVID-19-related challenges. EIT Health InnoStars was an official  Partner of the event supporting and mentoring the start-ups.

Since the COVID-19 crisis arrived, InnoStars together with 150 EIT Health partners, has become very active in using its network’s strength in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and has supported initiatives in the common battle with this virus. Read more here.
