Helping companies grow and expand internationally
GoGlobal Med Tech Exchange Accelerator 2018 can help companies with the competence needed for growth and international expansion.
Ten international companies aiming to enter the European healthcare market, and ten companies aiming to accelerate their business outside of Europe participated in the GoGlobal 2018 programme. Europe is home to a high number of medtech companies, the majority of which employ fewer than 50 people.
New companies may have difficulties to grow internationally due to the long and complicated processes when introducing new treatments while getting market authorisation and making reimbursement decisions.
The programme is dedicated to the three partner regions of Medical Valley:
- Rio Grande da sul (Brazil)
- Hong Kong (China)
- Greater Boston area (USA)
The GoGlobal Programme 2018 consists out of an inbound and an outbound part:
In April, during a two-day workshop in Erlangen, Germany, the hurdles in the European healthcare market for the international companies from Brazil, China and USA were discussed. Major topics revolved around the healthcare market itself, regulatory affairs, law aspects, how to get funding in Europe (private and puplic) and how to get in touch with talents and experienced workforces. The Highlight was the joint pitch event together with the outbound teams and the visit of the MT-Connect fair.
The first preparation sessions for the European participants were held at the Medical Valley Centre, in Erlangen. It was; therefore, possible for the companies from the target region to learn from one another.
Between October and November, the ten companies will have the opportunity to travel to their preferred country. During their one-week stay, they will gain insights into the market and foster their network in the foreign ecosystem. For this trip, the companies will receive a travel fund of €1 750 each. Aside from the Outbound preparations and the mission to the target countries, the companies will have the possibility to join webinars regarding country specific questions by international experts to extend the content of the workshop before their outbound journey.
This year’s participants:
Target Country Hong Kong/China:
- TherapySelect Dr. Frank Kischkel
- Sports Innovation Technologies
- Rheonova Medical
Target Country Brazil:
- Lab-on-Fiber (LoF)
- HiveTracker SA
Target Country USA:
- Quizit Sp. z o.o.
This programme was already implemented in 2017 with a high satisfaction rate. Nine out of ten companies’ expections were met. The participants recommended their contacts to use this programme for accessing new markets.
