New event partnership advances High Value Care agenda

8th February 2022

We are proud to announce that we are working with the Value Institute for Health and Care on the Redefining Health Care Summit 2022, set to take place in Barcelona this April. This strategic partnership furthers our work to support the implementation of High Value Care across Europe.

High Value Care (HVC) is the term used for the restructuring of healthcare delivery towards measurable outcomes that have high impact and matter most to patients.

An ageing population and increased rates of chronic diseases and co-morbidities continue to build the pressure put upon European healthcare systems. HVC offers a way to combat this, helping us to create efficient and sustainable healthcare systems that deliver real value for patients.

Having identified a lack of support for healthcare providers and professionals looking to implement HVC, we launched the High Value Care Forum to provide resources, training, and best practice sharing.

This new event will help to advance our work in this area by bringing together a community of change-makers, working to drive the transformation needed to implement HVC. By strengthening connections, sharing successes, and learning from each other’s mistakes, we can help to accelerate the work and support to achieve this transformation.

“We are excited to work with the Value Institute for Health and Care on the Redefining Health Care Summit 2022. Helping healthcare innovators connect and supporting them in their work to implement High Value Care is of strategic importance to us. We look forward to driving further transformation through this event in April,” says Jan-Philipp Beck, CEO, EIT Health.

As part of our work to advance High Value Care, we have developed a library of case studies showcasing examples of health pioneers who have successfully made the switch to HVC. One of these is Santeon, a Dutch group of seven private teaching hospitals.

After only 18 months after implementing its HVC plan for breast cancer, Santeon reduced reoperations due to complications by up to 74% at some locations, and unnecessary inpatient stays by nearly 30% across the seven hospitals.[1]
