Transitioning from academic research to working in the pharma and medtech industries can be challenging. EIT Health’s SCI FI programme helps its participants to overcome that challenge with the guidance of academic and industry partners. Now the programme has received an exciting award in Brussels!
The Emerging Europe Awards are an annual celebration of Central & South East Europe’s achievements in sustainability, innovation and entrepreneurship. Its “Future-proof Education Initiative of the Year” category rewards organisations operating in emerging Europe which have implemented successful projects and initiatives aimed at improving education and lifelong learning in the digital age.
The SCI FI programme was awarded the 2nd place in this category on the 8th of November in Brussels “for their dedication to supporting knowledge transfer from academia to business and empowering new entrepreneurs” (Emerging Europe website).

The programme consortium consisting of EIT Health Austria Core Partner Boehringer Ingelheim, the Medical University of Łódź, the Medical University Gdansk, the DEX Innovation Centre, PHILIPS, FreshBlood, MADoPA, the Maastricht University, the University of Galway (BioInnovate Ireland), the Friedrich Alexander Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, the Karolinka Institutet, the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST), MEDICEN, the Institute of Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC), Institut Mines-Télécom, the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) and the IRB Barcelona Institute for Research in Biomedicine are thrilled by this milestone!
The EIT Health SCI FI programme is an educational program for scientists from all over Europe wishing to transition into the industry. SCI FI works hand in hand with our industry partners to provide field skills including through real-life case studies and networking opportunities with recruiters of the health industry. Implemented by a consortium of 17 Partners from all over Europe, SCI FI is led by the Medical University of Lodz.
