MedTech Entrepreneurship Lab

Innovations that address real needs have the best chance to succeed in the market. This course sees entrepreneurs tackle actual challenges facing hospitals and the medical industry.

The goal of the MedTech Entrepreneurship Lab is for learners to use hands-on approaches to solve practical challenges while acquiring the tools to build and launch a business. The challenges for the course are based on real needs, and are posed by hospital and industry partners. The infrastructure of the lab gives participants the chance to execute their own product ideas and prototypes. Students work in collaborative teams over the course of a semester and are supported with:

  • a series of seminars in medical device regulations;
  • workshops in business and finance;
  • regular mentoring meetings;
  • individual coaching from industry and healthcare professionals.

Participants will be shown how to use the lean start-up methodology to implement their ideas as prototypes. They will also receive support in developing business plans. Currently only students from the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg can enroll for the MedTech Entrepreneurship Lab.
