Working Towards Inclusive Health Care Systems

A significant proportion of Europeans are said to have low health literacy, and their health suffers as a result. This course trains health professionals to address the problem.

This programme will create a massive open online course (MOOC) to train healthcare professionals in supporting people with low health literacy. Health literacy is defined as the ability to make appropriate health decisions and follow instructions for treatment. The many people in Europe with low health literacy suffer poorer health and higher rates of hospitalisation and mortality.

The INCLUDE4HEALTH MOOC aims to reduce demands on the health system by increasing the ability of healthcare professionals to address barriers experienced by those with low health literacy. The innovative, evidence-based MOOC will touch on a variety of themes and offer learners best practices to follow, as well as practical tools to use. The research partners involved in the project have a long-standing track record of successful pan-European collaboration in health literacy intervention research and course development
